The Angola Parks & Recreation Department consists of five full-time staff members: the superintendent, assistant superintendent, two full-time maintenance employees, and one full-time events and marketing coordinator. During the summer, we also employ four seasonal maintenance and four Summer Recreation Program employees.
Our staff manages over 200 acres of parkland and 4.2 miles of trails within the City of Angola. We have three developed parks: Commons Park, which offers over 100 acres of recreational space and includes Friendship Playground; Firemen's Park, located on Williams St.; and Nature Park, situated on the corner of Ettinger St. and Butler St. These parks offer amenities such as four baseball/softball diamonds, a soccer field, four playgrounds, and sand volleyball courts. Additionally, we provide picnic shelters and Commons Hall, our indoor facility, for rental.
Angola Parks & Recreation organizes numerous programs and events annually, including the Summer Recreation Program and the Memorial Tree Program. The schedule of events also includes the Easter Egg Hunt, Citywide Tree Give Away, Pig Out in the Park, Independence Day Celebration, American History Fest, Halloween Fun, and at least three concerts each year.
